POSITION SUMMARY



The Center for Biological Diversity (the Center) is hiring a Senior Digital Strategist to be a key member of the Center’s Digital team. The Senior Digital Strategist will deftly juggle responsive work in support of our diverse programs and ongoing core work within the digital department. This person will collaborate with staff to advance advocacy work, bring in new supporters, deepen supporter engagement, and help secure campaign victories.



ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Work with program and digital team staff to craft content, including emails, text messages, social media, online actions and technical development.</li>



<li>Work closely with other Digital team staff, including the Senior Digital Advocacy Manager, Social Media Strategist, etc., to ensure smooth integration of the work produced by Digital Strategists with other Digital department initiatives and schedules.</li>



<li>Develop, write, edit, and produce digital content that will engage supporters via email, SMS, social media or the Center’s website.</li>



<li>Collaborate with leadership and peers to identify responsive opportunities, including developing strategy and materials, and coordinating with other departments.</li>



<li>Follow and test best practices and innovations for email, social media, mobile, and web.</li>



<li>Make key decisions on project output, using expertise and insights from relevant team members or organizational stakeholders as well as testing and performance data.</li>



<li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</li>

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS



<ul>
<li>5-8 years of experience in digital engagement and/or public interest campaigning with environmental organizations preferred, but we are excited to welcome digital experts from other sectors and industries as well. Experience working on climate, endangered species, or other environmental issues or campaigns a plus.</li>



<li>Experience with CRMs (Every Action experience is a plus), CMSs, texting platforms and best practices, and social media scheduling and listening platforms.</li>



<li>Expertise in digital engagement strategies and tactics, including digital campaign planning, expertise in all relevant channels (email, social media, mobile, web), fundraising, and online-to-offline organizing.</li>



<li>Strong decision-making skills, able to make strategic calls for the project with awareness of the context in which it is operating both internally and externally.</li>



<li>Ability to balance multiple projects at once.</li>



<li>Keen judgment about what will work with key audiences, advance engagement goals, and organizational capacity.</li>



<li>Track record of developing creative campaign content that engages diverse communities and deepens relationships with existing supporters.</li>



<li>Excellent communication skills, including both written and oral.</li>

WORKING CONDITIONS



This role requires work in an office environment with long hours at the computer. Normal working hours are Monday-Friday, 9-5 with occasional work outside normal business hours during busy times. You will be required to use a laptop, which we will provide. We can also provide a monitor, mouse and keyboard upon request.

Senior Digital Strategist

Seeking an Operations Manager to oversee operational systems and events management for two funder collaboratives with small teams and large networks. Census Equity Initiative (CEI) is a national funder collaborative promoting a fair and accurate count on the decennial census and the American Community Survey. Fair Representation in Redistricting (FRR) is a national funder collaborative promoting fair districts. Both collaboratives are projects of New Venture Fund. The Operations Manager time on each project will likely shift based on need but will be roughly two-thirds for CEI and one-third for FRR. This is a unique opportunity to support two dynamic teams that coordinate with philanthropy and field leaders to improve our democracy.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Events management
● Assist in planning for CEI and FRR events, including preparing materials that involve video or online apps

<li>3+ years of relevant work experience; remote work experience strongly preferred</li>



<li>1+ year of Salesforce “power user” experience and <a href="https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/credentials/associate" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Salesforce Associate Certification</a> required; Salesforce Administrator Certification a plus</li>

Compensation



Salary range for an independent contractor is $30 &#8211; $40 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Salesforce Data Manager

The Morton Arboretum is a world-renowned nonprofit dedicated to protecting and growing trees locally and globally. We are seeking an experienced Salesforce and database administrator to join our team to develop and support our database systems that meet the strategic needs of the Arboretum. The ideal candidate will develop and support the business processes with the data and information flow between Arboretum systems and support all business functions including philanthropy, Membership, Special Events, and Education programs, and help preserve our plant collections across 1,700 acres using technology effectively. 



Position Summary:&nbsp;Lead the ongoing development and improvement, as well as day-to-day configuration, support, and maintenance of the Arboretum’s Salesforce Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system and other database applications and systems. Work collaboratively with leaders of various departments and functions, as well as subject matter experts to identify, develop, and deploy new business processes. Serve as an administrator, technical project manager, and analyst. Provide application and integration support and maintenance to actively meet business needs.&nbsp;



Essential Functions:&nbsp;



<ul>
<li>Serve as the primary Salesforce CRM system administrator. Integrate Salesforce with third-party applications; ensure the integrity of data integrations and manipulations. Develop and maintain custom objects, fields, formulas, validation rules, workflows, and page layouts. Responsible for batch uploads, exports, and data updates. </li>



<li>Work closely with subject matter experts across the Arboretum to identify, develop, deploy, and evaluate CRM processes. Develop suitable processes to support administrative, development, and change management activities.&nbsp;</li>



<li>Leverage data-driven insights to advise on audience segmentation and personalized communications across digital channels.</li>



<li>Maintain SQL server databases; design and maintain SQL reports in response to user needs.</li>



<li>Analyze and understand organizational business processes and requirements to recommend appropriate database solutions used and maintained by The Morton Arboretum. Implement solutions based on the department&#8217;s business needs.</li>



<li>Analyze data and develop reports, dashboards, and processes to support business operations.&nbsp;</li>



<li>Respond to and resolve database access, security, and performance issues. Complete regular internal system audits and prepare and implement software upgrades.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>



<li>Evaluate and test new products and software applications under development.</li>



<li>Train new users to help grow the Salesforce skill set across the organization.</li>



<li>Ensure that external consultants understand the Arboretum’s configuration and deliver a satisfactory product by providing functional and technical requirements, and maintaining the integrity and security of the data.</li>



<li>Demonstrate alignment with the Arboretum’s employee core values.</li>

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent required. 3+ years relevant work experience required, in a nonprofit organization working with a fundraising team. Salesforce experience is required, with Sales Cloud and Developer certification preferred. Technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting database and application servers, including MSSQL and MySQL servers. Advanced SQL administration skills are strongly preferred. Pardot Marketing Automation experience (or an equivalent marketing automation platform) is preferred. Project management experience preferred with experience in improving processes and adoption of technology platforms to achieve successful outcomes. Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue-resolution techniques. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. 



Success&nbsp;Factors:&nbsp;Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality, with the ability to build custom apps and objects, formula fields, workflows, custom views, and other content of intermediate complexity. Versatile with a combination of database and systems skills. Highly self-motivated, directed, with keen attention to detail. Ability to develop, retain, and interpret technical documentation for training and end-user procedures. Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Customer service-oriented individual with excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Knowledge of trends in technology relating to database and software applications. Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

The expected hiring range for this exempt position is annualized at $87,000 -$97,000 based on experience that will be evaluated during the candidate selection process.
