Objective of the Position

The role of the Senior Digital Copywriter is to develop and bring creative concepts to life for non-profit clients by writing compelling direct response digital copy.  

Job Summary 

Under the supervision of a Director and working closely with account staff, the Senior Digital Copywriter is responsible for crafting engaging copy for digital fundraising campaigns, including: creative brainstorming, writing copy for emails, landing pages, SMS, and web elements, taking feedback (internal and external) and implementing updates. The Senior Digital Copywriter is responsible for having the copy professionally proofread.  

The Senior Digital Copywriter should have a detailed understanding of direct response fundraising and the ability to work as part of a team to fulfill client needs.   

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintains strong relationships with account teams and the art department. 
  • Collaborates with team members to develop offers, determine themes, and provide creative concepts for digital and multi-channel initiatives. 
  • Works on multiple copywriting projects at once, maintaining strong quality and adhering to the schedules. 
  • Writes persuasive and informative content for digital marketing campaigns, including newsletters, fundraising appeals, and engagement initiatives. 
  • Researches the topics that our clients cover, including client website content, external news sources, and policy updates to inform content creation; in addition to marketing trends, best practices, and strategies. 
  • Send content to a professional proofreader and make edits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines. 
  • Coordinates with client teams to ensure timely review of copy. 
  • Report to staff on digital copywriting trends and any copy testing in staff meetings. 
  • Attend training sessions including company seminars as well as industry events and conferences, in consultation with supervisor. 
  • Speaks at industry events and contributes blogs and other material to industry publications. 

Experience                                                                                       

At least 4 – 5 years experience in direct response fundraising or advocacy, either for an advertising agency, direct response firm, or nonprofit organization. Must have strong digital copywriting skills; understanding of direct response fundraising concepts; the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; strong attention to detail, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and co-workers; understanding of key fundraising terms and how to optimize copy based on results.   

 About Our Location:

We are located south of Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. The position is offered in either a Hybrid, On-site, or *remote capacity.

*This position will be available remotely for candidates who will be in a work location in which Lautman Maska Neill & Company has an established business entity. We currently operate in Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington DC.
