Position Overview:

The marketing & social media manager is responsible for maintaining and building San Francisco AIDS Foundation’s (SFAF) social media presence, and supporting the development & implementation of marketing campaigns to advertise new philanthropy initiatives. They will bring relevant, engaging content to our existing followers on social media and use creative strategies to continually build our audiences. They will be responsible for using digital platforms to promote, advertise, and share information about SFAF programs, services, events, advocacy, and volunteer and philanthropic opportunities.

Essential Duties:

  • Curate organic and paid social media for SFAF on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, by researching, developing, and posting content promoting health information and updates, programs and services, upcoming events, policy/advocacy work, and staff/program accomplishments.
  • Increase the visibility and impressions of SFAF’s social media channels by developing a plan to strategically expand SFAF’s presence on existing or new social platforms.
  • With SFAF’s Philanthropy team, promote upcoming fundraising events, including Dining Out For Life, Tribute Gala, Santa Skivvies, Donor Salons, and upcoming endurance series events.
  • Design and implement marketing strategies to drive registrations to all new and existing SFAF peer-to-peer fundraising events, which could include redeveloping former platforms and strategies.
  • Assist in the reporting of marketing strategies for key reporting indicators for donors, sponsors, and collaborators.
  • Write, edit, and oversee copy development for emails, website pages, promotional materials, and other materials to promote upcoming fundraising events and initiatives.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Be present for upcoming endurance series events and existing philanthropy events, which include weekend and overnight events.
  • Research and advise social media best practices, to effectively engage existing audiences and recruit new followers, and build affinity and connection to SFAF.
  • Analyze impressions and engagement, using data to inform future tactics.
  • Assist with internal communication to SFAF staff about upcoming philanthropy and program events, and news/updates related to LGBTQ, HIV, and harm reduction issues.
  • Other marketing, media, and communications duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing writing, social media management, and marketing funnels at a nonprofit or equivalent professional environment.
  • Experience with digital ads, copywriting, and website writing.
  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other social media resources.
  • Graphic design and content creation experience.
  • Strong awareness of and experience with best practices for marketing, ad copy, and messaging.
  • Ability to review and optimize strategy according to KPIs to drive engagement.

  • Proficiency in using office equipment like computers, copiers, and phones.
  • Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of work in marketing and social media required.
  • WordPress experience is preferred.
  • Strong interest in LGBTQ+ community, harm reduction, racial and social justice, and health care access preferred.
  • Strong prior experience with Pardot and email analytics.
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Hootsuite and Meta Business Suite is preferred.

This position will have access to protected health information (PHI) and may only access, use or disclose the minimum information necessary to perform their designated role on behalf of San Francisco AIDS Foundation, regardless of the extent of access provided.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily located at 940 Howard, San Francisco, however, it may occasionally require traveling to other office locations or off-site meetings as required by the job. The role may include evening and weekend coverage.
