Location: US Home Based Office; Remote (CST or EST working hours)

Status: Full time; Exempt (IC2/B3)

Start Date: July 2024

Salary Range*: $55,000 - $65,000

The IT Engineer is a key member of the Information Technology department supporting staff located throughout the US, Canada, and UK. The position includes telephone/virtual support with regional office and remote-first users.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Administration of IT platforms and integrations including the following, JumpCloud, Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Jira, MDM, 2FA, etc.
  • Develop scripts for software installation, system configuration, automation of processes, and creation of MDM policies.
  • Setup, configure, and ship macOS/Windows systems for delivery to staff residences.
  • Setup, install, and configure network equipment, printers, and conference equipment, as needed.
  • Provide staff support for software and hardware issues, mobile devices, peripherals, permissions, application licensing, etc.
  • Onboarding and offboarding staff: security and platforms training, access management/software licensing via SSO or Group Assignments, and a general introduction to our technology.
  • Support setup, testing, and troubleshooting for virtual events, workshops, and seminars as required. This occasionally includes supporting educators, board members, and other external parties.
  • Respond to security events, remediate potential vulnerabilities, notify staff as necessary, and proactively address emerging issues.
  • Educate about and enforce adherence to security and privacy policies across all technology platforms.
  • Implement security compliance and vulnerability scanning platforms for macOS and Windows. NIST, Nessus, etc.
  • Maintain proficiency, obtain certifications, and increase expertise in IT and nonprofit technology solutions and use cases by attending trainings, reading industry-relevant resources, attending conferences, and more.
  • Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualities:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support role.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant work-study, internship, or professional experience, ideally involving project coordination in a nonprofit context
  • Understands and embraces the critical role administrative coordination and support plays in the success of the department and the organization as a whole
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and tasks
  • Proactive self-starter; strong attention to detail; experience working in a busy hybrid work environment a plus
  • Solutions-focused individual who is comfortable asking questions, searching for answers, and gaining clarity when needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Technical proficiency with macOS and Windows operating systems, networking technology and SAAS management.
  • Desire to learn how to use, test, troubleshoot, and deploy new technologies in a dynamic workplace.
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Experience with scripting languages, zsh, bash, Powershell, python, etc.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Preferred: experience using ClickUp or other project management products.
  • Preferred: experience with JumpCloud, Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, SSO and MFA implementation.
