The Canadian Centre for Nonprofit Digital Resilience (CCNDR) launched in March 2022 with the vision of creating a digitally enabled nonprofit sector, where Canada’s diverse nonprofits use data and technology to advance their mission, multiply their impact, and thrive in the digital age. CCNDR was founded by the Digital Governance Council, Tamarack Institute, Social Economy through Social Inclusion (SETSI), NTEN, and Imagine Canada. As was recently announced, Imagine Canada will be stewarding the Centre with the guidance of a new Advisory Council.

Imagine Canada is a national, bilingual charitable organization whose cause is Canada’s charities and nonprofits. Through our advocacy efforts, research and social enterprises, we help strengthen charities, nonprofits and social entrepreneurs so they can better fulfill their missions. Our vision is of a strong Canada where charities work together alongside business and government to build resilient and vibrant communities. Established in 2007, our team of over 35 full-time staff works remotely from communities across Canada.

Currently, many Canadian nonprofits struggle to leverage digital technology effectively. The sector faces a critical opportunity to bridge this gap and unlock the transformative potential of data and digital tools.

As the Executive Director of CCNDR, you'll play a pivotal role leading the Centre’s growth and evolution. You will build its capacity to advance CCNDR’s vision of a digitally-enabled nonprofit sector where all charities and nonprofits have access to the resources and enabling conditions needed to harness the power of technology to drive their impact.

Reporting to Imagine Canada's President & CEO, you will collaborate with a diverse network of stakeholders. This includes CCNDR's Advisory Council, funders, community and industry partners, Imagine Canada's leadership team, and various internal functions like research, public policy, government relations, strategic communications, and engagement.

Guiding Strategic Growth: Working within Imagine Canada’s established planning processes and in collaboration with staff, Advisory Council members and other relevant stakeholders, understand and translate the digital resilience needs and challenges of the nonprofit sector into a roadmap of ecosystem and sector-level strategies
Nurturing High-Impact Relationships: Cultivate and steward relationships with CCNDR’s diverse stakeholder groups to achieve the Centre’s goals, including advisors, organizational supporters, partners, funders, government, researchers as well as the charity and nonprofit leaders CCNDR exists to support.
Securing Resources: Secure and steward financial resources for CCNDR's mission, building toward financial sustainability for the Centre through grantseeking, strategic partnerships, sponsorships and earned income, and other opportunities.
Building an Inclusive, High-Performing Team: Working within Imagine Canada’s established HR policies and processes, hire, develop and integrate new staff while engaging cross-functionally with Imagine Canada teams to advance CCNDR’s work.
Driving Impact & Agility: Implement strategies and initiatives to achieve CCNDR's goals, ensuring all programmatic and financial objectives are met, while being strategically responsive to emergent and potentially disruptive changes, guiding external and internal stakeholders through the Centre’s evolution.
Positioning CCNDR as a Leader: Establish CCNDR as a leader in the digital nonprofit space through strategic collaborations and engagement including marketing and communications, participation in industry groups and committees, and public speaking.

Minimum qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for the role include subject matter expertise in one or more areas relating to data, technology and/or digital transformation as well as familiarity with Canada’s digital ecosystem. English/French bilingualism is considered an asset.

Terms & Conditions

Terms of Employment: This is a full-time, permanent position.
Annual Salary Range: In addition to health/dental benefits including a Health Spending Account and a Group Retirement Savings Plan (RSP), the 2024 starting salary for this position is $150,500, with an automatic salary increase every year towards a target salary of $175,400, which the incumbent is expected to reach after five years in the role.
Location: Anywhere in Canada with a reliable internet connection. This position will be required to travel occasionally to in-person meetings, conferences, and in-person staff gatherings.
Work hours: Imagine Canada is currently piloting a 4-day work week, Monday-Thursday, for a total of 28 working hours/week. This pilot is running until December 31, 2024 with the possibility of extension. If the pilot is not extended, working hours will be 35 hours per week. Flexible working hours to accommodate personal and family commitments. This position will be required to work non-traditional hours occasionally to respond to issues emerging in the external operating environment.

Steps to Apply

We expect to invite 8-12 qualified candidates to a short introductory video call (30 minutes).
We expect to invite 5-6 shortlisted candidates to attend a full, video interview (60-90 minutes) and to complete a behavioural assessment to better understand and discuss your working style (10 minutes to complete). Interview questions and a copy of your assessment results will be provided in advance of the call.
We expect to invite the final round of candidates to attend a second, full video interview (90 minutes). A portion of this interview will include a brief presentation and Q&A with a group of Imagine Canada staff.
