Awards

NTEN’s community overflows with generosity and innovation. We celebrate exceptional contributions to the nonprofit sector, technology, and our community.

Catalyst Award

Join us in celebrating IRCO + Free Geek!

This award recognizes community-centered organizations, coalitions, or campaigns using technology to disrupt the status quo. First awarded to Rob Stuart, who was pivotal in creating NTEN, the Catalyst Award is an annual reminder that technology can accelerate change. Movements can grow overnight when technology is deployed thoughtfully and strategically, creating change in new and surprising ways.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Join us in celebrating Joe Baker!

Donate to the Joe Baker fund

Our 2024 award honors an individual who has been instrumental in shaping the field of nonprofit technology and who has dedicated their career to supporting nonprofit staff in using technology to meet their missions effectively.

In many other industries and communities, a lifetime achievement award is presented to someone at the end of their career. In the NTEN community, we’ve reframed the lifetime achievement award to celebrate community members, regardless of their age or tenure, who work to ensure lifetimes of success in many others.

Champion Award

Join us in celebrating Emily Hicks-Rotella!

This award recognizes a community member who truly embodies our shared values and beliefs, from integrity and compassion to excellence and community. These are the people who are continually investing in helping other people learn and improve.

Usually, the Champion Award goes to someone who many folks on staff and in the community have met in person, worked with or learned from at events, and built a friendship with. The award celebrates someone who pushes us — all of us — to create a world where missions and movements are successful through the skillful and equitable use of technology.

For years we honored outstanding community members from across all areas of the nonprofit sector who embodied NTEN’s values and contributed to this unique community with our NTENny Awards. Each recipient generously gave their time, knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm to the nonprofit technology sector and community. Their contributions were key to the inclusive, welcoming, and supportive culture that makes the NTEN community great.
