The Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL) improves educational results for children, youth, and adults by providing research and development assistance in delivering equitable, high-quality educational programs. NWREL is a private, nonprofit corporation which has served the Northwest region since 1966 as its Regional Educational Laboratory under contract with the U. S. Department of Education, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies and organizations.
The Center for Classroom Teaching and Learning (CCTL) provides research-based resources and services to enable educators to implement high-quality curriculum, instruction, and assessments that foster improved learning, performance, and achievement for all students.
DUTIES
- Design, build and maintain advanced NWREL web sites, updating these on an ongoing basis to ensure that accurate and timely information is available to NWREL clients and internet users.
- Create electronic post-printing files to allow team members and clients the ability to access NWREL print publications online, which are similar to the printed versions.
- Develop, in collaboration with staff, effective and interactive web applications and technologies that support internal and external communication and data collection, including online surveys.
- Provide technical support in the use of internet and multimedia equipment, applications, and operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training: Bachelors degree or three years directly related experience
Experience: The successful applicant should have the following skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Three years of web and multimedia development experience including building database back ends for web sites
- Knowledge of computer design theory and techniques including HTML and CSS as well as technologies for collaboration and data collection
- Ability to work with others professionally to produce materials of high quality content and aesthetic design
- Ability to communicate technical information
- Basic understanding of the collection and use of research statistics
Desired/Preferred
- Experience developing Web materials for educational environments
- Experience with JavaScript, Mac as well as PC applications
- Demonstrated web development experience in LAMP environment, including CSS, MYSQL, PHP/Perl
Accountability
- Utilizes past experience to determine best options and solutions to problems
- Makes decisions within scope of assignment guided by established procedures
- Uses standard procedures and previous experience within assignment to solve problems
Physical Demands/Conditions
Office
- Sits for prolonged periods of time, requires manual dexterity for operation of personal computer, uses telephone, requires ability to lift or transport small packages weighing up to 30 pounds
Travel
- Minimum travel requirements (0 10%)
COMPENSATION
Salary range: $35,200 - $60,400 per year based on experience, plus a benefits package that includes vacation, generous employer paid retirement, medical, dental, life insurance, transportation benefit, and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
