Alaska Wilderness League, headquartered in Washington, DC, has offices New England, the Midwest, the Southwest, and Alaska. Celebrating its 15th year, the League has significantly expanded its programs and staff in recent years to address a broad range of wilderness protection issues across Alaska. In 2007, the League integrated its efforts with the Alaska Coalition, which organizes wilderness-interested groups across the country, and expanded its campaigns beyond the Refuge to include the Western Arctic, Oceans, Rainforests, and millions of acres that fall under the auspices of the Bureau of Land Management.

In order to keep pace with its expanding programs, the League has completely revamped its record-keeping and information management and now seeks a Database Coordinator to be responsible for data entry, information integrity, and support of its Raiser’s Edge/NetCommunity activism and fundraising systems. The League is looking for an individual who is highly motivated and able to work independently, while following sound, established protocols for information management. A successful candidate will have opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

Candidates should have database experience and facility with data entry. An Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited education institution is preferred. Strong candidates are team players who are helpful to others and willing to assist on organization-wide projects, such as Wilderness Week.

Position Summary

The database coordinator is an entry level position, primarily responsible for supporting the day-to-day functioning of the League’s Raiser’s Edge database, including processing incoming donations online and through the mail; importing external data into the Raiser’s Edge; maintaining data integrity and basic clean-up tasks; and producing various membership reports. In addition, a small portion of time (about 5%) includes serving as first point of contact for the office administrative issues and ordering office supplies.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Strong data entry and general computer skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, is required
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in non-profit fundraising
