When Admitting You're Wrong is the Only Way to be Right

Dreamhost I'm the "accidental techie" at our office. Though I hate that term. But essentially, I have both the institutional memory and the crazy gene that compels me to manage most of our IT situation. (So yes, all our bad web form design is my fault, but I'm working on that, I swear!)

At any rate, two of the blogs I read daily are the DreamHost Support Blog, and the DreamHost Staff Blog. Our site is hosted at DreamHost, and they had really terrible July. Our site was down a lot. A LOT. And sometimes is took a long time to get info out of them. We started to think about switching hosts. But I just read this post from their staff blog, and have to say that I am less inclined to do so now.

I have a lot of respect for people who can admit when they failed and try to move on. Essentially, these commodity services (like web hosting) are only differentiated by the customer service experience they can give you. So it better be good.

(Also - props to Dreamhost for making all their support and technical info RSS accessible!)
