Class Overview

What is a crash course? Taught by an industry expert, the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Crash Course is a power packed hands-on 5 hour class. Students of all skill set are welcome and this class is perfect for those making an upgrade.

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most powerful image manipulation and design tools on the market. Learning this complex program takes time and dedication and the Adobe Photoshop Crash Course: Web is the first step in learning this program with regard to how it is used in Web design. This hands-on crash course takes students through a series of 8 real-world Web related lessons and gives students a comprehensive look at this industry standard Web design program.

Prerequisites

This class has no prerequisites, and is intended for students with little to no experience using Adobe Photoshop or designing for the Web.

Materials

Class includes course workbook and students may opt to purchase Adobe Photoshop CS: OnDemand for $25. Students will also have 90 days of access to their instructor (via email) for questions and answers.

Lesson 5: Creating Special Effects, Paths & Shapes

* Image montages
* Using the clone tool
* Cool special effects

Lesson 6: Slicing & Preparing Images for HTML

* The slice & slice select tools
* Saving out navigation
* Creating mouse-over images

Lesson 7: Optimizing Web Images

* GIF & JPEG (What's the difference?
* Controlling Dither
* Reducing color = reducing size
* Size matters

Lesson 8: Creating Animated Images & Image Maps

Objectives

Students in this class will take away the following key elements:

1. Understanding of how Adobe Photoshop is used to design for the Web.
2. Students with some experience in the application will take away a more rounded Web-related experience including details on designing for fixed width vs. liquid designs.
3. Understanding of how to prepare files in Photoshop for later development in applications such as Dreamweaver.
