StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit project whose mission is to honor and celebrate one anothers lives through listening. Since 2003, tens of thousands of everyday people have interviewed family and friends through StoryCorps. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to take home and share, and is archived for generations to come at the Library of Congress. Millions listen to our award-winning broadcasts on public radio and the Internet. StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind, creating a growing portrait of who we really are as Americans.
&lt;br&gt;

&lt;br&gt;
The Information Technology (IT) Manager will direct and coordinate the activities and operations of IT for 70+ users in a Mac OS X networked environment. Actively champions the enabling role that IT plays in achieving organizational goals and mission. The IT Manager reports to the Director, Finance and Administration. The IT Manager role is a part-time (3-days per week) position.
&lt;br&gt;

&lt;br&gt;
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
&lt;br&gt;

&lt;br&gt;
    * Ensure effectiveness and security of systems and applications
&lt;br&gt;
    * Manage Storycorps current technology
&lt;br&gt;
    * Develop a strong disaster recovery plan with appropriate redundancy systems
&lt;br&gt;
    * Maintain accurate and current records for hardware inventory, software licensing, network configuration, problem resolution, and repair work
&lt;br&gt;
    * Manage structured cabling system and physical network and all components of network infrastructure
&lt;br&gt;
    * Manage all IT and third party software application support
&lt;br&gt;
    * Research, and implement new technology projects to meet StoryCorps goals and objectives
&lt;br&gt;
    * Create, document, and enforce IT policies and procedures
&lt;br&gt;
    * Prepare and maintain procedure manuals and documentation for internal use
&lt;br&gt;
    * Provide excellent, friendly customer support
&lt;br&gt;
    * Manage technology helpdesk to ensure IT problems are properly documented, handled efficiently, and reported on accurately
&lt;br&gt;
    * Develop budgets and monitor expenditures
&lt;br&gt;
    * Train new hires on StoryCorps technology
&lt;br&gt;
    * Assist department staff with vendor relations
&lt;br&gt;
    * Supervise IT staff
&lt;br&gt;

&lt;br&gt;
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
&lt;br&gt;

&lt;br&gt;
    * Minimum 5 years experience in IT environment
&lt;br&gt;
    * Impeccable attention to detail
&lt;br&gt;
    * Availability for infrequent after-hours emergency maintenance
&lt;br&gt;
    * Experience in managing staff
&lt;br&gt;
    * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills
&lt;br&gt;
    * Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
&lt;br&gt;
    * Bachelors degree
&lt;br&gt;
    * Extensive experience with Mac OS X desktop clients
&lt;br&gt;
    * Solid experience with Mac Os X Server, Windows or Unix administration
&lt;br&gt;
    * General Network Administration skills
&lt;br&gt;
    * Strong background in TCP/IP, Firewalls, Routing, and DNS
&lt;br&gt;
    * Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities
&lt;br&gt;
    * Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to staff and customers
&lt;br&gt;
    * Strong troubleshooting methodology and analytical skills
&lt;br&gt;
    * IT Architecture Design and Implementation
&lt;br&gt;
    * Previous experience with managing technical projects and vendors
&lt;br&gt;

Preferred:
&lt;br&gt;

&lt;br&gt;
    * Experience with Storage Area Networks configuration and setup desired.

    * Experience in a large scale enterprise environment
&lt;br&gt;
    * Network Engineering; advanced networks (including Layers 2, 4-7, and content switching) and server administration, or equivalent experience

    * Knowledge of PC Sound Editing tools and processes

The Web Designer and Computer Support Expert reports to the Manager of Information Technology. She or he will have a strong understanding of how computer hardware and software works, as well as ample experience troubleshooting problems on both Windows and Mac platforms.

The candidate must have experience with a wide range of operating systems and applications, ranging from Windows 2000 to Windows XP/Vista, and Mac OS X. Commanding knowledge of CSS and cross-browser issues is required.   Knowledge of printers, networks, the Internet, Web pages, Linux, MS Office, FirstClass, and open source software is preferred. The ideal candidate would have system administration skills as well as knowledge of PHP, Java, J-Ruby, and Ruby on Rails. While a broad range of skills is valuable to us, there is technical backup in depth within the organization. Manages multiple, simultaneous, ongoing, user support requests.

Follows individual support requests to a satisfactory and verified end resolution in each instance.

Creates user interface designs for web sites and web-like java applications

Creates themes for web sites and web-like java applications.

Creates Web pages for the organization and specific projects, including customizing pages generated by Rails and PHP.

Creates graphics for: logos, icons, CD labels, and printed newsletter.
&lt;br&gt;
Assists in formatting and publishing printed newsletter.
&lt;br&gt;
Sets up new user workstations and, when necessary, migrates the existing user environment.
&lt;br&gt;
Assists with software and hardware asset management.
&lt;br&gt;
Evaluates and performs preventative maintenance, upgrades, and security fixes.
&lt;br&gt;
Troubleshoots printers, handheld devices, and routine network problems.
&lt;br&gt;
Evaluates and recommends future technology purchasing needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
&lt;br&gt;

&lt;br&gt;
Understanding of PC hardware and software (Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista).

&lt;br&gt;
Understanding of Linux operating system is a plus.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with enthusiasm for working as part of a team as well as independently.
