Overall Responsibilities:
The On-line Community and Communications Specialist is responsible for leading the development and implementation of an online community building strategy. Tools for this strategy should include both PIH Web properties (act.pih.org, www.pih.org) and external social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).. The person in this role is also responsible for managing the PIH Model Online (PIHMO) website – model.pih.org, a warehouse of PIH tools, resources and guidelines – and the PIH intranet site. Working as part of the PIH Communications team, the On-line Specialist collaborates with multiple departments across PIH and with external partners to monitor and assist online communities of PIH supporters and to collect and manage content that responds to their interests and needs.

The On-line Community and Communications Specialist should have demonstrated experience in growing online communities in support of a cause or organization using online social networking tools and content management systems). He or she should also have experience with writing, editing and designing content for online information systems. The On-line Specialist will be the point person for act.pih.org, model.pih.org and the PIH Intranet, and will take the lead in helping our supporters and staff use the websites by monitoring usage, answering questions, promoting activity, and seeding the sites with quality content. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who cares about global health and social justice and who understands the value of the web to inform and engage users. The On-Line Specialist’s role requires a combination of communication, technical, and organizational skills.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a plan to promote and support participation in on-line communities.
2. Monitor community blogs and discussions; assist in stimulating activity, in identifying and supporting community leaders, and in encouraging and facilitating participation by PIH staff.
3. Create, collect, and manage content that gives on-line community participants both updated information about and a meaningful interaction and engagement with PIH’s work.
4. Improve integration of information and user access to PIH’s public website (www.pih.org), on-line community platform (act.pih.org), and information warehouse (model.pih.org).
5. Maintain and update the model.pih.org website by gathering, organizing, formatting, and uploading content, working closely with the PIH Training Department.
6. Manage PIH’s intranet site, developing and implementing plans to enhance and promote its use for communication and collaboration among PIH staff both in Boston and at our project sites.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of post-graduate work experience required.
2. Knowledge of and proven experience with web technology and tools, including html and content management systems.
3. Demonstrated experience with building online communities and mobilizing them to achieve results.
4. Experience producing effective multimedia (video, graphic) content for use online.
5. Strong writing/editing skills, including the ability to draft and edit text from different sources or brief notes.
6. Strong skills with Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe creative suite; design and layout skills a plus.
7. Demonstrated ability to assess priorities, manage many activities simultaneously and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
8. Proven ability to take initiative while working as part of a team.

Job Description Overview:
Partners In Health is looking for a qualified individual to manage the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) program for its Lesotho project, leading a diverse team of staff dedicated to improving clinical care and supporting PIH program activities with the EMR. He or she will build capacity within the EMR team, supporting the work at existing sites, and design and manage new features. The EMR Manager will also support PIH's Lesotho-based IT team and may take on additional duties as the program requires, including oversight of data entry and management activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Supervise the existing EMR implementation in Lesotho
• Manage PIH's Lesotho EMR team, including recruiting and training of new staff
• Mentor Lesotho staff to assume roles of increasing responsibility and autonomy over time
• Collaborate with the Lesotho Ministry of Health (MOH) and other Lesotho-based organizations at a national level on developing standards for EMR systems in Lesotho
• Work closely with PIH staff in Lesotho and Boston, and the MOH, to design new EMR features

• Ensure that output from the EMR program matches expectations set by the team

Qualifications:

Partners In Health is looking for a qualified individual to manage the implementation of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) program across the sites, leading a diverse team of staff dedicated to improving clinical care and supporting PIH program activities with the EMR. He or she will work with clinical, program and EMR staff at the sites to implement projects as specified by PIH senior management and project site directors. This position entails overseeing the team’s progress on programming and developing the software.

Responsibilities:
• Liaise with project site EMR managers.
• Write project plans and help write requirements documents for new projects requested by project sites and PIH management.
• Work with PIH senior management and project site directors to develop an organization-wide strategy for information usage and prioritization of projects.
• Liaise with EMR Lead Software Developer and follow up on programming team's progress.

• Facilitate solution sharing between sites.
• Document standard operating procedures for infrastructure, EMR, and data collection and management for new sites or projects.
• Facilitate creation of tutorials for core EMR functions (eg, data entry, making a simple BIRT report) for use across sites.
• Work with program and clinical teams to identify areas where greater access to information could reduce overall program costs.
• Work on budgets for EMR implementation, especially for Boston-based costs while advising site teams on local costs.
• Contribute to development and implementation of infrastructure strategic plan to support the data needs of the organization.
• Liaise with procurement and IT teams for procurement of IT infrastructure
• Significant travel.

Electronic Medical Records Java Developer

PIH is one of the two founding organizations of the OpenMRS open source electronic medical record system.

Overall Responsibilities:
We are looking for a full-time J2EE developer to join the team in Rwanda on development and support of our open source Electronic Medical Record systems. The OpenMRS system is currently used in 12 PIH-supported health centers in Rwanda, and is slated for national implementation. This person will be working in a complex and fast-paced environment with an experienced technical team, as well as clinical, data entry and research teams in Rwanda. This job combines the cutting edge of medical informatics work in a developing country, with the emotional rewards of seeing this work help people in a very direct way.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and support new features based on needs identified by the project.
• Bug fixes and improvements to existing features.
• Work with the Rwanda Ministry of Health and other Rwanda-based organizations at a national level on supporting software development, or standards for EMR systems where required.

Role Overview:

The SharePoint Specialist will serve as the technical lead and primary administrator for the MOSS 2007 Server Farm at the KIPP Foundation. The SharePoint Specialist will participate in organization-wide initiatives which include collaboration and development of business intelligence solutions enhancing MOSS 2007. ITDP is seeking a Director of Information and Technology Systems for its New York office to set up systems for sharing information both internally and externally, as well as formalizing our IT systems. This position will report to the Chief of Staff and work closely with the Communications and Development team, the Global programs team, and the field offices.

S/he will create the IT strategy, policies, standards, practices and security measures for the organization. S/he will contribute to general business planning regarding technology and systems required to maintain operations and competitiveness, as well as recognize new developments in information systems technology and anticipate organizational modifications. Work with outside consultants and service providers, including negotiating fees and contracts for services to enhance cost-effectiveness of IT, communications, and knowledge management.

Stay current on industry development of new products, software, hardware, telecommunications, infrastructure support and other related technologies.

Develop standard operating procedures

Providing in-house technical support, including purchasing and setting up work stations, as well as provide remote technical assistance and guidance to the field offices

Maintaining hardware, peripheral and software inventories and purchasing as needed

Manage the network, including the LAN, internet connections, and telecom integration.

Manage email system, including hosting, servers, staff e-mail addresses (assigning to new staff; handling terminated), creating distribution lists, troubleshooting problems

Performing back-ups and software and security updates on workstations in the New York office and make recommendations for field offices

Ensuring local and remote secure access to shared files

Coordination and integration of various tools (i.e., third-party email solutions, CRM, online survey tools, online payments, handheld devices)

General troubleshooting and software support, including graphic software, and handling specific information requests from staff.

Develop a taxonomy and process for tagging and linking network knowledge assets (e.g. publications from the network) on and off line.

Build and manage ITDP’s web properties

Budget and plan for yearly IT goals

Provide guidance on maintaining donor database and helping to ensure integrity of data and data entry procedures

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have the following minimum qualifications:

Has worked in or understands the complexities of a multi-site, international environment and the issues faced in developing countries.
5+ years of experience with organizational IT systems work and project management.

Professional knowledge and experience with document management systems, web content management systems, information tools, knowledge sharing techniques, and IT social media platforms.

Must have experience or familiarity with Windows Server 2003, PHP,

Expression Engine (or similar CMS)

Proficient in MS Access or similar database software, including donor management systems

Proven capability to maintain relationships with users in a network, as well as various contractors and vendors.

Excellent writing skills and an ability to synthesize key findings.

BS/BA degree or equivalent.

Will be required to travel once a year to staff meeting location, which may be in a developing country

Strong commitment to advancing ITDP’s mission and to environmental and social justice.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Operational characteristics of a variety of computer platforms, networks, software applications and operating systems

Methods and techniques used in the installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of PCs, Macs, servers, printers and related equipment

Methods and techniques of website design, interactivity, and development

Methods and techniques used in maintaining information system security

Methods and techniques of providing user assistance
