Event Details

Social networks are a topic generating much exploration and discussion in the nonprofit sector. Clearly, there's a lot of potential for gaining new supporters with these online tools, but many nonprofit organizations struggle to determine how they can fit into a social network application alongside for-profits and social groups. Project Agape is one of the initial Facebook Platform partners, launching Causes on Facebook. This new functionality extends the groups features and makes it possible for users to create causes, take donations, and recruit members. Join us as we explore the power of social networks and learn how to set up your own Cause on Facebook.

Event Materials

I enjoyed presenting to you all, and thank you again for participating. You can read more about Project Agape, and find the answers to some of the questions that were asked, on Facebook.

Starting a cause is simple -- begin by getting the Causes application and then follow the steps for creating a cause. You can describe your mission and scope, set your own positions and goals, and let people know how their support can make a difference. Then, locate your nonprofit by browsing our database and simply select your organization as the beneficiary. Donations are processed by Just Give and are sent to your organization at the end of every month.

As mentioned, you can also become a partner nonprofit with Project Agape. This involves filling out a nonprofit profile page on the Project Agape platform, which is directly linked to Facebook. Anyone on Facebook can start a cause -- this is a means of empowering the individual user who creates one. A partner organization's profile page, on the other hand, is controlled and updated by your organization, and is meant to give a broad overview that all Facebook users can read about. This also allows you to keep track of all causes associated with your nonprofit.

If you would like to become a partner nonprofit, or if you have any questions or concerns, please email Randall Winston at randall@project-agape.com.
