Ask the Expert - Andrew Turner on GIS
Event Details
Geographic Information System (GIS) is all over the web. From the standard Google Map link appearing when you search a business location to more complex maps such as this Bejing Olympic Air Quality one, location information is creating a geographically aware web, or GeoWeb.
Is your nonprofit using maps to geographically show off your work? Have you thought of the dozens of ways you could use the GeoWeb to make your work more visible? If you have used or are considering using GIS in your nonprofit's work, you probably have a question or two.
Well, Andrew Turner, a neogeographer involved in helping to build the geospatial web, will be here to answer YOUR GIS questions for our November Ask the Expert session.

Andrew co-founded Mapufacture, the industry leading geospatial aggregator that recently joined FortiusOne, the developers of GeoCommons. GeoCommons is a platform and collection of web applications that makes it easy for people to share and build collaborative maps from geodata. He also develops a number of other open-source tools such as GeoPress and Mapstraction, works with the OpenStreetMap project in the US and Africa, and wrote the book, Introduction to Neogeography, for O'Reilly. You can learn more about Andrew on his blog, High Earth Orbit.
