PDX 501 Tech Club: Nonprofit Tech Day On, Hands On
On Tuesday, March 24, two wonderful worlds will collide for the betterment of Portland-based nonprofits and technology geeks alike.
Are you a nonprofit that thinks the server is just the guy who brings you bacon and pancakes? Are you a geek looking to serve a nonprofit all the bacon knowledge sizzling in your head? We'll try to match nonprofit needs and give you a few hours to talk one-on-one with a technology know-it-all.
NTEN 501 Tech Club and NetTuesday join forces with Day On. Day On connects nonprofit organizations in need of advice and assistance with volunteers who are ready to help. Their first project was Geeks Day On, a day of service on MLK Day, when geeks offered free technology and Internet communications advice and assistance to nonprofit organizations.
They've agreed to offer their brain power for a higher calling once again.
This is a test run of what we hope will turn into a live help desk. More than that, it's a place for two incredible communities in Portland to connect and creatively come to solutions on how to make the world a better place using technology!
