NTEN Member Buzz Round-Up: December 4th
(Note: This is a weekly round-up of NTEN members doing and sharing their nptech awesome. Members are in bold. Tag your news with "nten member" or "nptech" to help us find your awesome, or contact Annaliese with your updates.)
Flickr: Cambodia4KidsorgIn this article about Twitter and story-telling, NTEN members Beth
Kanter and Thomas Negron are mentioned. The recent
NTEN 501 Tech Club event in New York presented a panel on the topic of
multi-channel fundraising, and Thomas and Beth both pulled nuggets from
the presentation to help nonprofits understand the role of new media in
storytelling, and the role of storytelling in our donor and constituent
relationship building.
If you want to get a good summary of that NYC panel, however, read Farra Trompeter's guest-post on the Care2 Frogloop blog about Multi-Channel Fundraising, with a special eye towards this end-of-year fundraising season. She headed up the panel at the November NYC 501 Tech Club, and summarizes some key points for nonprofits to remember in this article.
More good info for nptechies from the Care2 blog is Allyson Kapin's highlights and recommendations of some upcoming conferences for nonprofit technology topics. (Thanks for including the NTC, Allyson!)
Norman Reiss writes up some notes on two nptech events that happened in November: the NTEN 501 Tech NYC event (as already mentioned) and some highlights from the Convio Summit.
Check out the PDXTech4Good site and efforts -- it's a joint group of Net2 and NTEN Tech Club -- and the upcoming Tweetsgiving Portland. And a shout out to Ash Shepard from TACS/NPower Oregon for building the pretty site.
David Neff shares the social media guidelines he helped develop for the American Cancer Society. It's part of his "Thank You" posts this last week, in which he's sharing some great resources with his readers. Thank you, David!
The Marin Institute is incorporating video story-telling and advocacy for their Free the Bowl campaign, which asks 10-25 year-olds to create and submit videos for a chance to win prizes including a MacBook and iPods.
And, finally, help Beth Kanter and Allison Fine come up with the subtitle for their new book: The Networked Nonprofit.
