How to get your blog read
Some usual and some interesting ideas from Seth Godin about getting your blog read, found on his blog. The most interesting one I saw was:
13. Write about your kids
I was just thinking about this on the bus this morning. I need to update my personal blog with some photos from our zoo visit this weekend (my 1 year old LOVES flamingos!). My next thought was that Marnie Webb is always talking about her daughter, as well as AJAX, folksonomy and other fascinating things on her blog. I love the posts that feature her daughter because it helps me know who Marnie is as a person.
Not sure I'm going to start posting pics of Samantha in her froggy sunglasses any time soon, but at the very minimum it's a good reminder that no matter what you're writing, and especially if it's online, it needs to be infused with a voice that is authentically yours. People want to KNOW you.

When I started blogging, I had to promised my SO never to mention our
children, if we have any. See http://www.thebishop.net/fam/index.php Some people have very strong feelings about this.
At the Berkeley Cybersalon devoted to mommyblogging [sic] last weekend, perspectives were all over the map.
I like reading about families, but I don't post.
Glad the posts about the daughter aren't a distraction. I've thought
about this a lot. In fact, I've wondered if I should be posting about
my daughter. Not so much from the perspective you mention but her
privacy. She's going to be a 13-year-old one day. I wonder how other
parents -- particularly those who don't blog primarily about family --
handle this.
Oh come on, share the froggy glasses photo ...
