I've heard of the municipal wireless projects in Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco. But who knew that St. Cloud Florida was leading the pack? It's a light story from the AP today, but it did strike me for a couple of reasons:

1. It just goes to show that so much of making any project work is public relations. We all ought to take public relations classes.
2. Every time I think I've thought of all the ways that municipal wireless can be used by nonprofits, governments and citizens alike, someone mentions something new. Paramedics using the network to communicate with doctors. Of course!

I'm a complete believer inthe power of the marketplace, but I definitely feel that we need to squash the opposition of telecoms on this one and make sure that municipal wireless projects happen. Communities stand to gain so much!
